Amanda Jenner, Ceredigion’s Conservative Senedd Candidate has welcomed the EU post-Brexit deal, which will govern the UK’s trade agreement with the EU.
Commenting on the news, Amanda said:
“I am delighted that the UK has secured a trade agreement with the EU. This is good news for Ceredigion and the rest of Wales. This deal provides Welsh businesses with good access to the EU’s market with zero tariffs and quotas.
“The Agreement allows for our world-renowned Welsh products, such as Welsh lamb, to be protected in the EU with geographical indications and establishes a mechanism for protecting GIs in future in both the EU and the UK.
“This deal provides opportunities for the Welsh economy, and meets the UK Government’s pledge to maintain high standards. These are standards that reflect the significance that we place on remaining a world leader in many areas.
"I stood as a General Election Candidate in 2019, together with Conservative candidates and the PM who pledged to 'Get Brexit Done'. It is tremendous to see that commitment and ambition for a deal has been realised.
“The Welsh Government said it wanted a deal and we have ended the transition period with one. The Welsh Government must now take action to ensure Wales is ready and benefits fully from this deal."
